How to manage your time in life?

Do you manage your time effectively? Do you know how to prioritize? Do you know how to overcome procrastination? How to manage your time better?
Successful people know that time management is crucial to their success. They know that each minute is needed to achieve their goals. The Russian actor and director, Stanislavski, who developed an acting method that is used world wide now, used to tell his actors that every day is needed if they want to become successful and achieve their goals as successful actors. A day missed is a day lost, which is a step backwards artistically.
In my previous article, time management, I discussed the reasons why many people grew up not knowing how to manage time effectively and I also discussed the benefits of time management. In this article, I will discuss some steps on how you can manage your time more effectively.

Time management

To learn how to manage your time better, follow the below guide:
1. Prioritize
You need to learn how to prioritize your tasks. Make a list and break it down into 3 categories urgent, non-urgent, and normal. Use the list and prioritize as you see fit. Always leave some room for any interruption that can happen.
2. Focus on your task
You need to focus on what you are doing in the present time. Don’t digress and let your mind wander from place to place. If you digress, remind yourself of the end results and the benefits you will gain from finishing the task in time.  As I mentioned in my book “the ultimate guide to achieve your goals” focus and conentration are important not only in time management, but in learning how to achieve your goals as well.
3. Learn to say NO
Learn to say NO when someone asks you to do something while you are working on your task. Some people are shy to refuse unscheduled visits or calls from their friends and family. If you are unable to refuse visits and calls from friends while you have important things to take care of, then you are wasting time that could be used to finish your tasks.
4. Planning
When you plan, make sure you give each task the required time to finish it. Leave some hours every day spare incase something unexpected happens in your day.
These are some tips that will help you manage time better. Learn how to manage your time in a professional way and learn how to control your time. When you use your time in a non-productive way, you could be wasting some valuable time that can be used to achieve your goals.

What should be done after B.Tech: MBA or M.tech?

B.Tech is a bachelor level course in Technology. Thus, one cannot take it as the last and final qualification degree, especially in the present time when the market is full of competition all around. In the present era, there are more applicants than the number of job available, and hence it is very essential for everyone to be specialized in their respective field. As far as B.Tech degree course is concerned, it does provide specialization, but not of that higher level as provided by MBA  or M.Tech .

Thus, it is some sort of invisible compulsion that one needs to do MBA  or M.Tech in order to progress  more in one’s field. But the question arises, that what should be done MBA or M.Tech?

This decision completely depends on the person and his or her personal interest. Both the course provides ample specialization, but both provide specialization in separate sectors. If one is more interested in engineering  line and want to work in their trade line and want to make a career with engineering projects, then without delay one should go for M.Tech. That will help them in getting a better rank and post in the same line in which they were working or wanted to work after the completion of their B.Tech degree.

However, if one is more interested in working in the management aspect of companies rather than engineering line, one should go for the MBA degree. MBA will enable them to work from the management front where they can manage the resources  for the benefits of various aspects of the business.

If you feel this article is interesting do comment, will update more on this field in the coming post :) :)

Raise your self-esteem

1. Know why you have low self-esteem.
Do you have low self-esteem because your teacher thinks you are not smart? Do you have low self-esteem because your parents and friends criticize you all the time? Know why you have that negative feeling about yourself. You have to know that emotions are the result of thoughts. If your thoughts are always about criticizing yourself and believing what people say about you, then you are likely to stay having low self-esteem. If on the other hand, you thoughts are positive, then your will feel much better because emotions are the result of thoughts. If you don’t control your thoughts, then ask yourself, “who does?” This is the most important step in raising your self-esteem is to ask yourself “why?” and then change your thoughts about whatever answer you come up with. For example, if your teacher told you that you are not smart or clever, then you could say to yourself “The teacher must be jealous of me, that is why he keeps criticizing me.”
2. Stop thinking negatively of yourself-
Start thinking of yourself as a beautiful human being. No one is like you, you are unique. God put you on this earth for a purpose. Learn to appreciate yourself and think highly of yourself. Always talk to yourself positively.
3. Set goals-
You don’t want your life to go by without attaining your goals and desires. Start by stetting goals. For example, if you want to get a college degree, go and register now. If you want to learn a new sport, go and sign up in the club. If you want your body to be in shape, then join the gym and exercise. Many people grow old without accomplishing much. You don’t want that, right?
4. View mistakes as a learning opportunity-
Every single person on this earth makes mistakes. We are all fallible, so it is perfectly ok to make mistakes. Whenever you make a mistake just say to yourself “Everyone makes mistakes, so it is ok. I learned something from this experience.” The important thing is to learn from your mistakes, so you won’t repeat them.
5. Exercise-
Exercising and taking care of your health helps you release your stress. You will be able to move more freely, breathe better, and strengthen your heart and body.
6. Love your body-
If there is something that you dislike about your physical appearance and would like to change it, go ahead and do it. Maybe you dislike your hair style or want to try new style of dressing. Small improvements in your appearance can do you wonders.
7. Limit dealing with negative people-
I bet one of the main reasons why you have low self-esteem is because of the negative people in your life, whether it is parents, family, friends, teachers, or colleagues. Try to surround yourself with positive people and who bring the best in you. If someone says something negative about you, then just tell that person that you don’t appreciate the negative words that this person is using. Most of the time, such people will stop from making negative comments about you.
8. Learn to love yourself-
You have to realize the more you love yourself, the more others will love and respect you. You also have to realize that it is ok for someone not to love you or to have different opinion than you on specific subject. In my article How to love yourself, I explained the steps you should to love yourself unconditionally.

The most useful feel-good internet meme you’ll ever see

Post image for The most useful feel-good internet meme you’ll ever see

You’ve probably seen the graphic above [if you can't see it, it's here], and it maybe looked like something brilliant and life-changing when you saw it. It is unlikely that it changed your life though.
The stoics had this same roadmap figured out forever ago, and if it worked for them it’s because they knew what skills you needed to get to the big “Then don’t worry” at the center. And they practiced them. They didn’t think anything else in life was worthwhile.
This graphic does make sense, but it leaves out the hard part. The arrows make it look like getting from worrying to not worrying is done in a few stretches of unfettered, instant travel, like snakes and ladders without the snakes.
But some of the arrows represent high-level life skills that need to be identified and practiced if you’re going to consistently make it to the coveted “Don’t worry” at the middle under your own power. I want to break down what it really would take to get from one to the next, not that I’m calling myself an expert at any of them.
Even if you don’t acknowledge this map as your own normal way of doing things, we are all somewhere on it at any time, trying to get to the middle. Some people have been stuck in one place for days, weeks, or years.
I’m going to go over exactly what it would take to put this map to use, so that it can be more helpful than just a feel-good internet meme. There are eight arrows to be negotiated. Here they are, marked up with a red sharpie:

Seven Tips For Getting Yourself To Go To Bed On Time.

Turn-off-bulbThat’s a very important question. Since I’ve started my Happiness Project, I’ve become more and more convinced that sleep is vital to happiness and energy.
If you want to get more sleep, but have a hard time getting yourself to turn out the light, try these strategies:
1. First things first: give yourself a specific bedtime. Most adults need 7-9 hours of sleep every night, so take a look at your wake-up time, and do the math. Even if you don’t regularly go to bed at your bedtime, knowing, “Well, it’s midnight, so I’m two hours past my bedtime” might help prod you to bed.
2. Don’t wait until you feel sleepy to think “Hey, maybe it’s about time for bed.” It’s all too easy to keep yourself alert and busy way past the time that you should be asleep. If you insist that you’re quite wide awake at 1:00 a.m., test yourself: sit in a dim room with your head back for five minutes. How does it feel? Are you still wide awake? Along those lines…
3. Stay away from the internet for at least an hour before your bedtime. Television, too, but I think the internet is even more apt to make me feel artificially wide awake. I used to try to go through my emails one last time before bed, to get a jump on the morning, but I realized that this stimulating activity made it much harder to go to sleep.
4. Don’t drink caffeine for several hours before your bedtime.
5. Remind yourself how great it feels to wake up naturally, before the alarm goes off, without that sickening jolt into wakefulness. Then, when you’re surfing the internet at 11:30 p.m., ask yourself, “Am I making a good trade-off?” I was recently talking to a group of medical students, and one guy protested, “But if I go to bed at 11:00, I won’t have time to watch some TV before bed.” I asked, “Is watching that block of TV so fun that it outweighs the pleasure of getting enough sleep?” (I don’t know what he decided.)
6. Get ready before bed well ahead of time. I realized that, perversely, I often put off going to bed because I was too tired to take out my contacts, brush my teeth, and get changed. Now I get ready earlier in the evening. Side benefit: once I do these things, I’m less likely to head to the kitchen for a snack. On a related note…
7. Create a bedtime ritual, and do it at the same time every night. Maybe you fix yourself a cup of herbal tea, maybe you read in bed, maybe you do an evening tidy-up By doing the same thing every night, you will cue yourself to start heading to bed.

What should I do with my life

As soon as Edward wakes up in the morning, he lights up a cigerette and starts smoking. Then, he goes washes his face and takes a shower. As soon as he is done, he goes out wondering in the streets from a friend to another not knowing what to do with his day. His friends ask him why he doesn’t get a job and he keeps saying that there are not jobs and starts blaming the economy, the government, life, his family for his misery. Since he is overweight, his friends also advise him to join the gym, so he gets in shape and keeps his body healthy, but Edward doesn’t listen.

What do you think of this story? Does it sound familiar? How many people do you know that have no idea what to do with their life?
Many people live life aimlessly and don’t know what to do with their life. They don’t have any goals and they don’t have any desire to change themselves and improve their life. They are expert, however, at complaining and blaming people and life in general, which was one of my main reasons for writing “the ultimate guide to achieve your goals“ to help everyone with this subject.
If you are a person who always ask “What should I do with my life?” then follow the below guidelines to get your answer:

1. Figure out what you want in your life and what your goal is. If you don’t know what your super objective is, then who does? Don’t be like the millions of people around the world who get up every morning, not knowing what to do.
2. Find a hobby that you enjoy and spend sometime daily or weekly enjoying it whether it is sports, dancing, singing, acting, reading, exercising, or whatever you like.
3. Educate yourself. Spend time reading and learning new skills. Just like people who are in the IT and technology field, have to update their skills all the time as the technology keeps changing, you do the same.
4. Do what makes you happy.
If you follow the above steps, you will be on your way to doing what you love in your life and you won’t ask again “What should I do with my life.”  Always remember to do what you love, not what others want. As Howard Thurman says, “Don’t ask what the world needs.  Ask what makes you alive, and go do it.  Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
